A Cup of Coffee

I woke up in the same terrible mood that I had been in for the last several days. Feelings of burnout, a chaotic lifestyle and barely any time to breathe, left me drained and disoriented.

Dragging myself out of the bed, patting my dishevelled hair, I trudged my way to the bathroom to brush and then trudged my way back to the kitchen counter.

Mother had already heated some milk and left it for me. I picked up my cup and poured a teaspoon of sugar and a dicoction til it satisfied me. The aroma of the caffeine danced its way into my nose and teased my brain with images of roasted coffee beans as I unconsciously began to smile a little. I poured the milk into the cup and saw the white blend with the brown. The coffee powder swirled with the milk like a mesmerizing design, a ballet between the yin and the yang, until it all became a shade ready to be poured back and forth between two glasses. The fluffy froth and the beautiful smell could beat any advertisement that Coffee brand has ever shown.

As I took my first sip of the bittersweet morning nectar I felt my body wake up cell by cell like a jasmine flower knowing when its dawn breaks.

As I think to myself, I chuckled. Isn't coffee a perfect drink for any occasion? Be it a relaxing sunset watch on your balcony, or a sweet tethering of a long-untied bond, or even a perfect drink to welcome the footsteps of getting a possible new love. The best things, I think, always start over a cup of coffee.
